Aerlattice is our first public project, and there is still plenty to learn from it. The current demonstrator brings planning, checks, alternatives and review into one application. Our next questions concern how that workflow holds up when someone has to use it with unfamiliar information and changing requirements.

We haven’t announced a second product or a release date for one. For now, Aerlattice is the clearest picture of what we’re working on.

The questions we want to answer

We want to understand how easily a reviewer can follow a flight request from its first draft to a decision. Where does the application need a clearer explanation? Which changes are hard to compare? What information would someone need when reopening a decision weeks later?

Those questions are closely related to the work already in the demonstrator. Aerlattice records checks and review decisions, keeps accepted revisions fixed, and lets replacement routes remain drafts. The next step is to evaluate how well those choices support the people using them.

Representative user studies and operational validation are still ahead. We’ll describe their results when there are results to share.

What will guide future work

Incanta is an Ottawa-based defence software company. We’re interested in tools that help people understand a situation, consider their options and make a decision they can explain.

Aerlattice gives that interest a concrete starting point in uncrewed flight planning. Future work may deepen the current application or address another related task. We’ll be specific about it when we have something to show.

The project page covers the current application. This journal is where we explain the choices behind it and share updates as the work develops.
